It was fantastic to see our gorgeous designer wedding dresses grace the catwalk at the Ideal Bride Expo held at City Hall earlier this year! We featured eight unique designs from sparkling ballgowns to modern fit and flare styles. It was easy to see the high quality fabrics and gorgeous detail of the gowns under the bright lights. We also had a stall at the expo where we got to chat to many beautiful Brisbane brides-to-be. It’s always fantastic to speak with brides, find out what bridal trends they are loving and answer any questions they may have. After the weekend we realised a few key questions continued to pop up and thought we would answer them below for any brides who weren’t at the expo.
When should I start looking for a wedding dress?
Wedding dresses can take anywhere from four to six months to arrive once ordered. To limit stress and ensure shopping for your wedding dress is a fun and memorable experience we recommend you start looking for your wedding dress nine months out from the wedding date. This gives you time to try on a few different dresses and consider your decision. Ideally you should then make a decision and purchase your gown seven months from your wedding date. This allows for the full six months delivery time and if it comes faster then that’s a bonus! You will then have at least a month left in between your gown arrival and wedding to get alterations done.
My wedding is less than six months away, do I have options?
If your wedding is less then six months away do not panic! Some designers can get a gown to you within this time frame. It is best to ask your in store bridal stylist on approximate delivery dates and what would be available in time for your wedding. You also have the option to purchase a gown off the rack and take it home with you on the day of your appointment.
What size are your samples?
Our samples range in size from 6 to 16 in order to service a diverse range of shapes and sizes. We also have a plus size collection with samples ranging from size 16 to 26. Our samples are just to give an idea of what the dress will look and may not always fit perfectly. If you fall in love will a dress it will be made to your standard size.
